Jack Calls on Governor Lynch to Oppose Federal Health Care Mandates
Posted by: | CommentsAmidst the clamor and controversy surrounding the recently-passed health care bill, near silence has been heard from New Hampshire’s executive office. Millions of Americans have spoken out against the bill, a dozen states have filed lawsuits against it, and the White House is scrambling to “fix” egregious omissions and errors in the one week-old law. Yet Governor Lynch has still done nothing.
“Governor Lynch, it’s time for ACTION!” Gubernatorial candidate Jack Kimball said. “The health care debate is not over yet, and New Hampshire cannot afford to sit on the fence any longer.”
Kimball criticized the under-handed way in which ‘ObamaCare’ was negotiated and passed. “This is the ‘live free or die’ state and to the citizens of New Hampshire, that motto means something. The process that we witnessed last Sunday amounted to the complete shredding of our Constitution. The back-room arm twisting and outright bribery of Congressmen, in order to elicit their vote, was more than outrageous. As Americans, the citizens of New Hampshire feel betrayed.”
Kimball urged Governor Lynch to join the dozen other states initiating legal action against the Federal government. The constitution of the State of New Hampshire is one of the most effectively written documents in our country, Kimball explained. It was used as part of the basis for the US Constitution. Kimball pointed to two key articles that apply directly the ObamaCare.
The first is Article 7 (State Sovereignty). It states:
“The people of this state have the sole and exclusive right of governing themselves as a free, sovereign, and independent state; and forever hereafter shall, exercise and enjoy every power, jurisdiction, and right, pertaining thereto, which is not, or may not hereafter be, by them expressly delegated to the United States of America in Congress assembled.”
The second is Article 10 (Right of Revolution), which states:
“Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for one private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”
As Governor, John Lynch has a responsibility to defend the constitution of the State of New Hampshire. “If he won’t do it,” Kimball predicted, “the people will. As we have seen in the last few special elections, the American people, and the citizens of New Hampshire, will revolt at the polls on November 2nd. We intend to take our Sate and our Country back. The tidal wave is coming!”

Kimball Responds to Health Care Bill

Yesterday, against the will of the majority of American voters, Congress passed a historic bill. The health care reform bill is historic in the sense that it is sweeping new legislation to implement a health care plan that has been sought after by liberals in Congress for decades. But it is also historic in the sense that it represents one of the largest increases in government control since the Great Society.
While almost everyone agrees that our health care system is in dire need of reform, this is a step in the wrong direction. A Washington Post-ABC News poll found last year that 83% of Americans are satisfied with the quality of their health care, and 81% are satisfied with their insurance. What Americans are concerned about is their rising insurance premium costs.
The Congressional health care bill will not make the cost of health insurance decrease, despite rhetoric coming from the White House. The bill mandates that insurances companies cover individuals who choose to buy health insurance only after they get sick, and dictates to insurance companies what and who they can and cannot cover. The result of these regulations is that insurance companies will be forced to cover more expensive clients, and these higher expenses will be passed on to all policyholders in the form of higher premiums. With the mountain of new taxes and regulations, the health care bill represents a government takeover of an unprecedented 16% of the U.S. economy. And as voters know all too well, government intervention has never saved anyone any money.
“I am deeply saddened,” Kimball says “that New Hampshire’s representatives in Congress, Carol Shea-Porter and Paul Hodes, have chosen to ignore the outcry of New Hampshire’s citizens against this bill. We need real health care reform that brings the costs back to levels everyone can afford. This can be accomplished through things like tort reform, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, expansion of Health Savings Account-type policies, and reduced regulation in our own state. Reform needs to happen at both the Federal and State levels to introduce more competition, not more government regulation into the mix.
“But even worse than the bill itself is the shameful way it was pushed through Congress. What happened to President Obama’s campaign promises to make government more open and accountable? The whole process was rife with bullying and back door deals. Even the one group that could stop the bill, the pro-life Democrats led by Representative Bart Stupak, gave in to the President’s compromises. No wonder Congress’ approval rating is at 11%! This is not the America that I used to know. Nor is it the America that the vast majority of Americans want. I am confident that American voters will ‘clean house’ this November—and vote for candidates with integrity who will truly stand for the will of the American people.
“It is not too late for New Hampshire to still stand up to Congress. I hope that Governor Lynch and our representatives at the State House will follow in Virginia’s footsteps and refuse to subject our citizens to these burdensome Federal mandates. Attorney General Delaney should join with the dozens of other state attorney generals who are poised to sue over this unconstitutional power-grab by the Federal Government.”
