Integrity

When Governor Lynch took office he pledged: “Everyday in everything I undertake on your behalf, I will do my best to prove myself worthy of your trust… that starts with [an] open, ethical, honest government.” Unfortunately, over and over again this administration has failed to maintain the standards of integrity that New Hampshire expects.

In his campaigns for Governor in 2004, 2006, and 2008, John Lynch repeatedly said marriage should be preserved as one man and one woman. However, earlier this year he proudly signed gay marriage into law. Regardless of opinion on the policy it is irrefutable that John Lynch deceived New Hampshire in three consecutive campaigns on this issue.

Further, in his campaigns in 2004 and 2006 Governor Lynch said he supported a parent’s right to be notified when their child was about to undergo an abortion. However, despite his public support he signed a repeal of New Hampshire’s parental notification law, giving us the distinction of being the only state in the country to do so.

On budgetary matters, Governor Lynch ignored Republican warnings and seized $110 million from the Joint Underwriting Association Fund (JUA) to balance excess spending. Physicians insured by the JUA sued and now the state is currently engaged in costly litigation. Placing our state budget on such shaky ground is hardly ethical or responsible.

Whether the issue is gay marriage, parental notification, contract negotiations, potential misconduct in no-bid contracts, or lawsuits undermining the state budget, Governor Lynch has broken his trust with New Hampshire. How can we trust him to keep his word to veto a sales and income tax?

Jack Kimball believes that a person’s word is their bond, and that trust once broken can never be the same. When Jack gives his word you can believe he will keep it.
